Giant Eagle Opens 119th GetGo

63rd location in western Pa.

WHITE OAK, Pa. -- A Giant Eagle GetGo gas station and convenience store opened in White Oak, Pa., last week, according to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette.

Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week, the outlet has three fueling stations and six pumps and sells groceries, prepared foods, beverages and lottery tickets.

This is the 63rd GetGo the supermarket chain has opened in Western Pennsylvania and the 119th store in its four-state region, which includes West Virginia, Maryland and Ohio, said the report.

The first opened in McKees Rocks in 2003, it added.

The GetGo concept continues to grow, Dick Roberts, spokesperson for Giant Eagle, told the newspaper. He said that the outlets are popular, partly because of the fuel discount program they offer in conjunction with the supermarket. I think Giant Eagle feels it's a good location, and that we'll be well-received in that neighborhood.

Regional Business Alliance Executive Director Howard Carpenter agreed.

That's a good spot, he told the paper, noting that the station saves motorists in the neighborhood from driving up the hill to Route 30 or elsewhere to get gasoline. It's a small business, but it's good for the community, he said.
