Handee Marts' Earhart Announces Retirement

30-year veteran to step down in June 2012 from 7-Eleven licensee

GIBSONIA, Pa. -- Bruce Earhart, vice president of marketing for Handee Marts Inc., a domestic licensee of 7-Eleven, has announced his retirement effective June 30, 2012, to pursue other interests.

At the time of his retirement, Earhart will have served Handee Marts for 30 years with increasing levels of responsibility including store manager, district manager, food service manager, gasoline director, senior buyer, merchandising manager, director of marketing and finally, since 2006, his current position as an officer of the corporation, vice president of marketing.

"Bruce's contributions to Handee Marts have been significant over the years. He is well known and respected across our industry and his retirement will leave us with an experience gap, said Mike Triantafellou, president and chief executive officer of the Pittsburgh-based chain.

He added, "I am pleased that Bruce has given us 10 months advance notice and agreed to assist in further developing his team and participate in the decision-making process to ensure that the marketing department at Handee Marts continues to successfully grow for another 30 years."

An avid and accomplished musician, Earhart was the winner of CSP's first CRU completion in 2009 and performed again at CRU in 2010 where he served as a guest judge and opening act. Earhart plans to dedicate more time to his music and fishing, but will also be available for part-time consulting engagements with retailers and suppliers, he said.

Handee Marts, based in Gibsonia, Pa., operates more than 60 7-Eleven stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio and West Virginia.
