WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- After several months of construction, Hy-Vee opened the doors of its inaugural HealthMarket small-format store in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 31.
Here's a look at the grocer's first foray into its new concept ...
The 15,000-square-foot store emphasizes healthy living while still offering much of Hy-Vee's original store format products, including a full lineup of fresh produce, meat and seafood, dairy, frozen food and meal kits. It will carry about 11,000 items.
Health-related amenities offered at the new concept store include a full-service pharmacy, health clinic and hearing aid center, sports nutrition area and Aisles Online pickup lockers.
A hydration station allows shoppers to quench their thirst with items such as nitro coffee, kombucha and Bevi infused waters.
The store is adjacent to an Orangetheory fitness center so customers can work out before they stock up on healthy groceries. Hy-Vee announced a strategic partnership with the health chain a year ago.
The Hy-Vee HealthMarket also features an appealing bath and body section featuring all-natural Basin products.
The store also offers an extensive selection of bottled water.
