Lykins Brings Gulf Full (Orange) Circle

Brand returning to Milford, Ohio, after 45 years

MILFORD, Ohio -- Lykins Energy Solutions is bringing Gulf back to Milford, Ohio, after a 45-year absence. The former Jessee’s Shell gas station will become a Gulf site. It will be Milford’s first unattended fueling station. It will offer fast and easy fueling by using a credit or debit card.

Milford Gulf will be a fuel only location, open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The two-bay service station will still be in business, but there is no convenience store. The gas station is considered to be an unattended  site, Mary Eisnaugle, vice president of marketing and advertising for Lykins Energy, told CSP Daily News.

To celebrate the "legend being back," Lykins Energy Solutions is offering a 10-cents-per-gallon savings through Feb. 28, 2016, when customers use their Gulf Orange card.

In February 2015, Lykins announced its exclusive partnership with Gulf Oil for an exclusive deal to represent the brand in the greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area to bring the Gulf brand back for the first time in more than two decades.

The relationship between Lykins and Gulf has great historical significance, the company said. Lykins Energy Solutions (formerly Lykins Oil) operated one of the first Gulf stations in the Cincinnati market in 1953.

“Milford Gulf will be an example of a piece of Lykins history coming full circle. We’re very excited about this purchase, the history and the convenience it will provide Milford residents with 24/7 self-fueling,” said Lykins Energy Solutions president and CEO Jeff Lykins.

The partnership with Gulf Oil gives Lykins Energy Solutions the exclusive rights to the Gulf brand in the greater Cincinnati market and also allows for growth throughout the United States.

The opening of Milford Gulf is part of Lykins’ long-term strategy to maximize this opportunity. Lykins also plans to partner with existing and new station owners in greater Cincinnati, northern Kentucky and southern Indiana.

Lykins Energy Solutions is a family owned and operated business headquartered in Clermont County, Ohio. The company was founded in 1948 by Guy Lykins Sr. and is now in the third generation of management. The company is one of the 100 largest privately held companies in Ohio, and one of the top 10 largest petroleum marketers in Ohio.

Founded in 1901, Gulf Oil LP operates as a wholesaler of refined petroleum products. It offers heating oil, diesel fuel, kerosene, premium Dieselect and gasoline products. The company also produces a line of lubricants, including motor oils. Gulf Oil distributes products through a network of gas stations.
