WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- Kum & Go LC is on a new-store rollout roll. It has just announced the opening of two new convenience stores, one in Nebraska, and one in Oklahoma. The openings come on the heels of other recent Kum & Go new-store announcements in Colorado and South Dakota, with more in the pipeline.
Kum & Go has opened a new store in Omaha. This is the 10th Kum & Go location in the Omaha area and the 18th store in Nebraska. The chain plans to continue its growth in Nebraska with two new stores—another in Omaha and one in Papillion—scheduled to open later [image-nocss] this year.
The 3,400-square-foot store took just over four months to build. A tenant will fill the adjacent 1,200-square-feet of building space in the near future, the company said.
The new location features 20 fueling stations, offering unleaded, super unleaded, premium, diesel and E85 fuels. Kum & Go has offered E85 since 1997 and currently offers E85 at 28 of its stores located across 12 states.
Kum & Go stores feature a variety of food and beverage products, including Java Ridge Premium Coffee, Napa Creek and Sea Ridge wines, Go Fresh Market Sandwiches, Nuclear energy drinks and Nutri2O nutraceutical waters. The Iowa-based company also offers potato chips, bottled water, cookies and candy under the well-known Hiland brand name in its stores.
As part of Kum & Go's commitment to developing environmental-friendly building and operating practices, the new Omaha store integrates heavily insulated glass, LED cooler door lights and energy-efficient coolers into its energy-efficient design.
West Des Moines, Iowa-based Kum & Go also opened a store in Owasso, Okla. This is the third Kum & Go location in the Owasso area and the 50th store in Oklahoma. Kum & Go plans to continue its growth in Oklahoma with one new store in Stillwater and another in Owasso scheduled to open at the end of this month.
The new store also features 20 fueling stations, offering unleaded, super unleaded, premium and diesel fuels. It also features a variety of the same Kum & Go food and beverage products.

And as reported in CSP Daily News last week, the large regional retailer opened two new c-stores, one in Greeley, Colo., and the other in Elk Point, S.D. Kum & Go said it plans to continue its growth in Colorado with eight new stores scheduled to open throughout the year, and in South Dakota, with one additional new store scheduled to open in Sioux Falls in October.
Kum & Go said last August, when it divested itself of approximately 30 smaller locations, that its business plan calls for an increase in the number of larger-format c-stores in its core markets, while developing more and better efficiencies in its infrastructure as well as creating a stronger asset base.
Kum & Go has more than 430 convenience stores in 12 states (Iowa, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wyoming and Wisconsin).
