EL DORADO, Ark. --Murphy USA Inc. said it won't fill a senior vice president’s role dedicated to retail operations following an executive's resignation, and the company has reassigned the responsibilities of the role to "key personnel within the company.”
Murphy USA Inc. announced a change in its senior leadership following the resignation of Marn Cheng, senior vice president of retail operations support.
Cheng is resigning for personal reasons and plans to spend more time with family in both Malaysia and the United States, the company said. His resignation is effective April 30, 2017, and his responsibilities have been reassigned internally.
A 17-year veteran of the company, Cheng has held various leadership roles within the operations team. He joined Murphy Oil Corp. in 2000 as district manager in Oklahoma City. He came to Murphy USA as part of the executive team selected to lead it when parent company Murphy Oil spun it off in late 2013. He was senior vice president of field operations for Murphy Oil USA.
He also has held the positions of general manager of retail marketing, regional vice president and vice president of retail operations.
Previously, he was with Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores, Oklahoma City.
"Marn's breadth of experience in retail operations, fuel supply, ethanol production, customer and store support and many other roles provided him a unique perspective on our business, and he in turn provided me and our leadership team with great wisdom and advice which certainly has served us and our business well," President and CEO Andrew Clyde said.
Murphy USA is a retailer of gasoline and convenience-store merchandise with more than 1,400 locations in 26 states, primarily in the Southwest, Southeast and Midwest. Most of Murphy USA's sites are located near Wal-Mart stores. The El Dorado. Ark.-based company also markets gasoline and other products at standalone stores under the Murphy Express brand.
