Pester Acquires 10 Stations

Retailer will convert Time Saver locations to 1st Stop banner

LAKEWOOD, Colo. -- Pester Marketing Co., owner of the 1st Stop brand of gas station/convenience stores in Colorado, said that it has acquired 10 convenience stores in north central Kansas and Hasting, Neb., previously owned by R & C Petroleum, operating under the Time Saver moniker.

The deal brings the total number of convenience stores owned by Pester Marketing to 51. As part of the acquisition, Pester Marketing will convert all 10 stores to the 1st Stop brand, it said.

In addition to Phillips 66-branded gasoline, all 1[image-nocss] st Stop stores sell a variety of groceries, snacks, beverages, tobacco products, lottery products and other convenience items.

Before this transaction, North Platte, Neb.-based R & C Petroleum had 29 stores. Gasoline brands include Sinclair, Conoco and Shell.

Pester Marketing's last acquisition was in mid-July 2006, when Pester Marketing acquired 17 Farm Crest Dairy c-stores along the Front Range previously owned by Royal Crest Dairy. It converted all 17 stores to the 1st Stop brand, but retained the rights to the Farm Crest name and the right to sell Farm Crest all-natural milk in a reusable/returnable environmentally friendly milk bottle on a long-term basis.

In March 2006, Pester acquired a 50% interest in Alta Fuels LLC in Alamosa, Colo., a terminal company blending ethanol and biodiesel products with sales to numerous wholesale and retail customers in Colorado and New Mexico.

Lakewood, Colo.-based Pester Marketing was founded in the mid-1950s in Iowa; it has owned and operated stations and stores in Colorado under the FINA, Derby, Pester and Coastal brands since 1975. In addition to the retail side of the business, the company also is a wholesale supplier of branded and unbranded petroleum products.
