PMG Cultivating the Garden State for Circle K

Petroleum Marketing Group to act as area developer for brand in New Jersey

WOODBRIDGE, Va. -- Already committed to branding Circle K at the six company-operated stores in New Jersey, Petroleum Marketing Group (PMG) signed a deal on April 25, 2013, to act as the area developer for the Circle K brand in key areas of the Garden State.

As reported in a Raymond James/CSP Daily News Flash on Wednesday, under the agreement, PMG and Circle K will begin growing the Circle K brand across key areas of New Jersey immediately.

Fuel branding will remain unaffected by the deal, the company said.

PMG will make the Circle K brand opportunity available to qualified locations within its New Jersey network, as well as other qualified  businesses expressing an interest in the Circle K brand within New Jersey, the company said.

With its purchase of 117 retail sites and supply agreements from Houston-based Exxon Mobil Corp. in May 2012, PMG New Jersey LLC II more than tripled its presence in the New Jersey market. PMG purchased the Exxon-branded stations and dealer supply-only agreements in northern and central New Jersey.

Separately, in July 2012, Richmond, Va.-based Mid-Atlantic Convenience Stores (MACS) became a "brand developer" for the Laval, Quebec-based Couche-Tard Inc.'s Circle K. That agreement covers Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.

Couche-Tard's network currently includes almost 6,200 c-stores throughout North America, including approximately 4,500 stores with fuel. It has agreements for the supply of motor fuel to more than 350 sites operated by independent operators. Its North-American network consists of 13 business units, including nine in the United States covering 40 states and the District of Columbia (under the Circle K banner) and four in Canada covering all 10 provinces (under the Couche-Tard and Mac's banners).

Based in Woodbridge, Va., PMG services more than 800 dealer locations and company-operated sites in the Mid-Atlantic region, including New Jersey, Maryland, Washington, D.C., and Virginia. Currently PMG operates under several convenience store banners including Corner Mart, Market Place and other regional brandings.

PMG is an authorized distributor for Shell, Exxon, Mobil, BP, Sunoco, CITGO, Gulf and Crown brands and supplies nonbranded petroleum products, as well. It delivers more than 700 million gallons of petroleum on an annual basis, it said.
