RBG Creates Board of Advisors

Independent operators help develop ed sessions

HINSDALE, Ill. -- Royal Buying Group Inc. (RBG) has created and selected The Independent C-store Expo Board of Advisors. This group of current independent c-store industry veterans will help guide topics and content for the group's Expo.

The Independent C-store Expo Board of Advisors includes:

Kiran Asher, McAsher Inc., Marysville, Wash., a 10-store operator serving the greater Seattle area. Monica Musich, VALDAK Corp., Grand Forks, N.D., who operates seven Valley Dairy c-stores and three car washes in North Dakota and Minnesota. Sajid Chaudhry, MSR [image-nocss] Petro Service, Greenbelt, Md., a 19-store operator serving Baltimore, Md. David Scalisi, Chevron at Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, Fla., a single-store operator. Mahammed Khan, LA Rouge Mart, Baton Rouge, La., a single-store operator. Jay Seewald, On The Move, Boynton Beach, Fla., a 16-store operator serving Austin, Texas, and Pompano Beach, Fla. Ramzi Khoury, Engine FoodLane, North Kingstown, R.I., a single-store operator. Denise Zervos, Zervos One Inc., Mount Prospect, Ill., a five-store operator.

This year's expo will feature trade show floor and meeting space, networking and educational seminars on various topics intended to help all convenience store operators. Speakers will include nationally recognized industry experts, supplier representatives and others.

Supplier and member awards will be presented at the trade show; and, RBG will also be announcing the winners of the fifth-annual Royal Buying Group Scholarship Program. RBG will present two scholarships to members or members' children attending or enrolling to attend an accredited secondary educational institution.

Educational sessions developed through input from the board of advisors include:

Maximizing your Tobacco Category in 2007. This session will be presented by Erick D. Harris, Senior Account Manager for Philip Morris USA and Scott Covey, National Account Manager for Swisher International. New contract changes by PM USA and additional opportunities in the OTP category will be explained by the presenters with time allotted for questions and answers by the attendees. Category Focus on Food ServiceDoing the Basics Well. Steve Montgomery, President of b2b Solutions LLC will explain some of the challenges in the fastest-growing category in the convenience storefoodservice, and how to best create a destination stop for this high-gross-margin offer. What are the Benefits of NACS? Michael Davis, vice president of retailer services for the National Association for Convenience Stores (NACS) will provide information on all of the programs and services that NACS has to offer c-store operators.

The Independent C-Store Expo will be held on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at the Marriott Oak Brook Hotel Oak Brook, Ill.
