MIDWAY, N.C. -- Sheetz opened its second location in Davidson County, North Carolina, on Thursday morning and its first dine-in restaurant in the area.
The new Sheetz hosted a grand-opening ceremony. The parking lot was completely full with city and county officials, Sheetz representatives and excited patrons, according to a report in The Dispatch.
"This is the 12th location we've opened in North Carolina in 2012, and we continue to see strong sales from our loyal Sheetz customers," said Stan Sheetz, president and CEO. "We're among the exceptions in a tough economy, because we'll open between 25 and 30 new locations this year, all offering great food, exceptional customer service and gas prices that are among the best in town."
The new store, Sheetz’s 429th, is 6,400-square-foot and created 40 to 45 new full- and part-time jobs and added $3.5 million taxable property value to the city and county tax base.
The dine-in restaurant area is a relatively new addition to Sheetz stores.
"We are going to add a dine-in area to every location that we have the space," Adam Sheetz, director of regional operations, told the newspaper.
The opening also included the traditional donation of $2,500 to the Special Olympics.
