St. Augustine Kangaroo Express Stores Get 'New at the Roo' Treatment

Feature upgraded Bean Street Coffee, broader assortment of fresh foods, new frozen drinks

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Kangaroo Express, operated by The Pantry Inc., has announced six stores in St. Augustine, Fla., now feature new store offerings and upgraded appearances as part of the "New at the Roo" program, including an upgraded Bean Street Coffee experience and a broader assortment of fresh foods.

To celebrate its investment in the local St. Augustine community, newly refreshed Kangaroo Express stores will feature month-long specials and giveaways, including free coffee from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 25-cent hot dogs at select times every Friday through March 7.

Customers who visit Kangaroo Express stores enjoy a fast, friendly and clean store environment. As part of the "New at the Roo" program, participating stores feature upgraded Bean Street Coffee dispensers, designed to preserve the freshness of the coffee. The spacious serving stations have upgraded coffee accessories including a wide variety of coffee flavors and additions such as extra boosts of caffeine and whipped topping, allowing guests to customize their cups of Bean Street Coffee.

"Investing to bring new offers to our St. Augustine stores is just one part of Kangaroo Express' commitment to local Florida communities," said Michael Ursini, region director at Kangaroo Express. "We invite the community to stop by with their Bean Street Coffee Roo Mugs and experience what's 'New at The Roo' to better serve their on-the-go needs."

Kangaroo Express and its customers have long supported the local community, including raising more than $520,000 for St. Augustine-based Florida National Guard Foundation and $1.5 million for Orlando-based Give Kids the World Village over the past three years.

In addition to improved Bean Street Coffee, guests at participating stores will be able to enjoy newly offered iced tea and a broader assortment of fresh pastries for on-the-go breakfast and snacks. The new bakery case features glazed donuts, which the retailer said are almost 40% larger than well-known brands, doughnut-holes, muffins, cheese danishes and more.

These are also the first Kangaroo Express stores to feature new frozen drink options. Flavors will rotate between black cherry, blue raspberry, lemonade, very berry melon, strawberry banana, orange, pina colada and sweet tea.

The renovations to these stores are prime examples of the investments Kangaroo Express is making in its communities across the southeastern United States, the company said, including plans to open more quick-serve restaurants (QSRs) in stores and remodel stores.

As of Jan. 30, 2014, The Pantry, based in Cary, N.C., operated 1,537 stores in 13 states under select banners, including its primary operating banner Kangaroo Express. Kangaroo Express offers hot and cold beverages, snacks, fresh foods, gasoline and a wide assortment of merchandise and services for guests' on-the-go lifestyles. It is home to more than 220 foodservice restaurants, including Subway and Dairy Queen.
