Turkey Hill Minit Markets Goes Platinum

Times Leader Readers’ Choice winner for third straight year

LANCASTER, Pa. -- Turkey Hill Minit Markets earned the Times Leader’s Readers’ Choice nod for the Best Convenience Store, the newspaper said.

This is the third straight year the chain has won the honor, making it a “platinum” honoree.

In the Wyoming Valley area in Pennsylvania, Turkey Hill operates 25 stores with eight of those stores in Wilkes-Barre alone, including a new one that opened in October 2015.

In January 2015, Turkey Hill opened and expanded a new location in Dallas, Pa., to replace a store that operated further down the highway. The new, 4,000-square foot location provides one-stop shopping for all convenience-store needs.

With their “Fresh to Go” options, Turkey Hill c-stores feature sandwiches, pizzas, subs, wraps and grilled options. The stores have a variety of choices for breakfast, lunch and dinner, offering salads and snack options.

Turkey Hill stores also offers Coffee Central and Soda Central, which allow customers to customize drink options, along with coolers of varieties of beverages.

Turkey Hill ice cream made with natural ingredients is stocked in store freezers.

Many serve as a RedBox location and some even offer car washes. Each store offers tobacco products and lottery games.

Along with dining options, Turkey Hill stores also cater to automobile fuel needs and, in 2010, the company introduced its Rewards Card program.

The first Turkey Hill store opened in 1967 in Lancaster by Charles and Emerson Frey. The company has expanded to 270 stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Indiana, 230 of which offer gasoline options. Turkey Hill’s headquarters is in Manor Township, near the Susquehanna River, just outside Lancaster, Pa.

Turkey Hill is one of five convenience store chains operated by The Kroger Co., Cincinnati.
