ANDOVER, Mass. -- VERC Enterprises, which has convenience stores throughout Eastern Massachusetts and New Hampshire, has added its 22nd location, this one in Andover, Mass. The new VERC Mobil, just off of Interstate 93, is a former Mobil station. It houses a convenience store and a Dunkin Donuts.
Kevin Foster, whose experience in the gas station/convenience store industry spans 15 years, has been hired as manager of the new Andover store.
With experience in acquiring sites and renovating throughout the area, Duxbury, Mass.-based [image-nocss] VERC Enterprises projects growth of three to five locations per year, the company said.
In other company news, Paul Vercollone, vice president of VERC, has been named president of the New England Car Wash Association, a 150-member organization comprised of independent car wash owners throughout the New England states.
Vercollone has been a member of the organization for 32 years and has served on the organization's board. He said that one of his priorities during this two-year term as President will be to work on environmental issues and awareness. Our mission should be to demonstrate to the driving public that a professional car wash is environmentally preferable to washing a car at home in the driveway. People who do it themselves' often end up in the situation where their wastewater ends up in a storm drain.
Vercollone said that he plans to bring visitors from the state's Department of Environmental Protection to work with the membership on an awareness campaign aimed at the general public.
Also, Barry S. Ahern has been named director of operations and human resources at VERC. In this expanded role, Ahern, who formerly held the post of human services director for the 160-employee company, will also be responsible for the overall operations of the convenience store side of the business.
Prior to joining VERC in March of 2004, he served as corporate human resources manager for the Boston-based Phoenix Media/Communications Group and as a human resources manager for Bob's Stores.
