Waddill's Markets Files for Ch. 11 Bankruptcy

Express Lane stores will stay open

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Waddill's Markets Inc., doing business as Express Lane, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Friday in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court Western District of Missouri, reported The Springfield News-Ledger.

The Springfield, Mo.-based company operates a total of nine Express Lane convenience stores, located in Springfield, Republic, Nixa and Clever, Mo., Raymond Plaster, a local attorney who represents the company, told the newspaper.

In the court documents cited by the paper, Waddill's Markets reported that [image-nocss] it owes more than $3.8 million to its creditors, including $1.9 million in unsecured claims.

The c-stores will remain open, Plaster said.
