Williams Exiting The Pantry

Senior vice president of operations announces departure from regional retailer

CARY, N.C. -- The Pantry Inc. said late yesterday that Brad Williams, senior vice president of operations, has announced his decision to leave the company. The Pantry has begun the process of identifying a new senior vice president of operations. On an interim basis, operations will report to president and CEO Terry Marks, the company said.

"During his 13-year tenure, Mr. Williams has made many important contributions to the company, including his role in driving a fast, friendly and clean experience for our guests," The Pantry said in a statement. "The company appreciates [image-nocss] Mr. Williams' dedication and hard work over the years and wishes him the best in his new endeavors."

In December 2008, The Pantry named Williams senior vice president of field operations. He served as vice president of field operations since March 2008, and was previously a division vice president with responsibility for approximately 550 convenience stores. Prior to joining The Pantry in 1998, Williams held operational and marketing positions with E-Z Serve Convenience Stores Inc. and ConocoPhillips.

Headquartered in Cary, N.C., The Pantry is the leading independently operated convenience store chain in the southeastern United States and one of the largest independently operated c-store chains in the country. As of May 9, 2011, it operated 1,659 stores in 13 states under select banners, including Kangaroo Express, its primary operating banner. The Pantry's stores offer a broad selection of merchandise, as well as gasoline and other ancillary services.
