7-Eleven Asks, 'Who Wants to Be a Pointillionare?'

Retailer launches sweepstakes for millions of rewards points

IRVING, Texas --7-Eleven is pushing consumers to its revamped 7Rewards loyalty program by offering seven contest participants 1 million 7Rewards points each.

The points are redeemable for food, drinks and other items at 7-Eleven convenience stores. The sweepstakes runs through April 28, 2018, with winners drawn weekly.

The newly adjusted 7Rewards loyalty program allows shoppers to earn points via purchasing about 80% of items found in 7-Eleven stores. The app linking to the program includes a customized menu of items based off customer favorites.

Customers can earn bonus points on select items as well as receive digital coupons. When members buy products on bonus points, they can earn rewards even faster. Additionally, when a participating item is scanned, the digital coupon is automatically applied during checkout. Customers cannot earn points on purchase of excluded items such as fuel, financial services, prepaid cards, lottery tickets and other age-restricted products and services.

Originally, the 7Rewards loyalty program was a deal to buy six hot beverages and get the seventh free. The retailer later expanded that offer to include all proprietary 7-Eleven beverages sold in a cup. That beverage offer remains in the new adjustments to the 7Rewards program.

To enter the contest, customers must scan the barcode on their 7-Eleven mobile app when checking out. 7Rewards members can scan their app to enter the contest up to six times a day or 42 times each week.

7-Eleven also said that those who win the 1 million points will reach what it calls “Pointillionare” status.

"Our strategy to make every customer's interaction with 7-Eleven valuable and delightful just got bigger and better. The enhanced 7Rewards app gives customers more ways to earn and redeem points in order to get free stuff," said Gurmeet Singh, 7-Eleven's chief digital officer and chief information officer. "Giving away a million points each week gets our customers excited--just like the new 7Rewards points program grabbed their attention. Since the launch, we've gone from 9 million members to over 12 million and counting."

In addition to the multiple “Million Points” prizes, exclusive experiential prizes will also be awarded weekly. Those include:

  • Round-trip airfare to Sonoma, Calif.
  • Racing in Austin, Texas
  • Tickets to Men’s Division 1 Basketball Weekend in Minneapolis
  • Tickets to a live music event in Miami
  • A home media room giveaway, with a big-screen TV, surround-sound system and a gaming console
  • Tickets to a 2019 professional football event in Orlando, Fla.
  • A trip for two to Paris
