Family Express Invests in Digital Signage

Messaging platform complements daypart marketing strategy

VALPARAISO, Ind. --Family Express Corp. has selected Watchfire Signs to provide digital signage for its convenience stores.

The Valparaiso, Ind.-based chain is expanding into made-to-order foodservice and needed a digital marketing platform with which to communicate to customers.

Family Express has installed Watchfire electronic-message centers at nearly 90% of its locations to date, said David Watson, director of corporate programs for Watchfire Signs.

With proprietary brands such as the Cravin’s Kitchen made-to-order food service, Java Wave gourmet coffees and signature hot or iced espresso beverages, and the iconic “Square Donut,” Family Express was looking at digital message centers as a means to deliver daypart-specific communications to customers, giving them advertising messages that were immediately actionable.

“Family Express wanted a digital messaging platform to complement our daypart marketing strategy, with the ability to customize all of our sign communications with ease on a system that is dependable,” said Gus Olympidis, president and CEO of Family Express. “We chose Watchfire because of their extraordinary reliability, the strength of Ignite, their programing software for the signs, and their corresponding support service.”

Watchfire Signs designs, engineers and manufactures outdoor LED signs and digital billboards. Based in Danville, Ill., Watchfire has manufactured outdoor electric signs since 1932 and LED signs since 1996. The company has more than 50,000 Watchfire LED signs in operation.

Family Express operates 65 convenience stores throughout northwest and north central Indiana.
