Gate Petroleum Goes With Boomi

Platform designed to streamline order processing, invoicing

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Gate Petroleum Co. has selected Berwyn, Pa.-based Boomi's Visual Integration Platform to meet the company's current business-to-business integration software needs as well as emerging application integration requirements.

Gate Petroleum is a retail marketer of petroleum products headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla. Its other businesses include operation of convenience stores, operation of private clubs and resorts, real estate development and manufacturing of architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete.

To keep its c-stores stocked, Gate Petroleum works with numerous third-party companies such as McLane, a grocery supply chain vendor.

We evaluated our technology infrastructure and realized we could significantly improve business processes if we pulled together information from standalone applications and connect directly with our trading partners, said Ben Cebrian, database manager for Gate Petroleum.

As the first order of business using the Boomi platform, Gate Petroleum is setting up electronic invoicing with its trading partners. Currently, paper invoices are received and keyed in at the store and then transmitted to the home office, with the exception of orders from McLane. With Boomi in place, now suppliers can submit any type of invoice file (flat file, XML, EDI, HTML, etc.), and Boomi will take the information and input it directly into the company's ERP application and simultaneously send it to the appropriate retail store. This is accomplished without any human intervention.

In addition to transmitting invoices, Gate Petroleum is planning to use the AS2 transport module for secure communications.

We're just getting started with the Boomi platform, and it's already clear we'll be able to use integration in numerous other ways, said Cebrian. You can create integrations with click-and-drag simplicity [and] itwasn't a piecemeal offering. It's one integration engine that can be used for B2B and application integration. The product operates as a cohesive unit and doesn't requireadd ons.

Gate Petroleum is connecting applications such as its pricebook, store backoffice system, AS400 systems, accounts payable application and general ledger. As it connects additional applications throughout the organizationand as it continues to connect electronically with additional trading partnersit will further drive value and create efficiencies throughout the organization.

Boomi improves the efficiency and effectiveness of small and mid-sized businesses by enabling application, B2B and data integration in one comprehensive product that can be deployed on site or on demand. Boomi's visual integration approach allows users to design and build configurations to handle a variety of integration needs with point-and-click, drag-and-drop ease, the tech firm said.
