SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Refiner-marketer Giant Industries Inc. has forged a deal for Hughes Network Systems LLC (HNS) to upgrade its HNS VSAT satellite network. Giant has migrated to HNS' DIRECWAY broadband service at 127 of its retail locations. Giant selected packetPointe Communications Inc. for the installation, monitoring, and management of the broadband network.
With the new DIRECWAY service, Giant will be able to reduce the number of phone lines at each of their retail locations, eliminate the complexities of doing business with multiple vendors, [image-nocss] reduce expenses associated with maintaining a dial-up Internet connection at each retail location and increase the speed and efficiency of communications from remote sites to corporate headquarters.
The DIRECWAY service will decrease credit card transaction times and eliminate the expense of managing multiple vendors and multiple phone lines.

HNS' DIRECWAY terminals are based on the IP over Satellite (IPoS) global standard, approved by both TIA and ETSI standards organizations.
