Gulf Implements EchoSat SPG

Tech firm helps retailer deliver high-speed Override loyalty transactions
FRAMINGHAM, Mass. -- Gulf Oil LP has implemented EchoSat SPG (Secure Payment Gateway) high-speed transaction transport service for its Gulf-branded stations in most of its New England operating area, EchoSat Communications said. The EchoSat SPG communication solution delivers high-speed loyalty transaction processing to enhance the speed of service to customers using the Override Gas Savings loyalty program. Additionally, SPG delivers high-speed credit and provides a remote support infrastructure to ensure that the program has maximum uptime, reliability and customer satisfaction.[image-nocss]

The PCI-compliant high-speed EchoSat SPG network increases the overall speed of service at the checkout and provides a communications infrastructure to support the real-time Override program.

Under the initiative, EchoSat also supplies Gulf Oil with essential system deployment services and inventory management systems, as well as network and engineering support.

Gulf Oil's Override Gas Savings loyalty program is available currently in Gulf-branded stations in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut an Rhode Island.

EchoSat, a division of The Tower Group, Lexington, Ky., is a supplier of secure data communications services for convenience store, petroleum, retail, utility and grocery markets. It provides PCI-compliant EFT transaction transport solutions to multiple endpoints over broadband Internet with the EchoSat Secure Payment Gateway (SPG). EchoSat also provides broadband IP satellite services to areas not covered by traditional terrestrial broadband services and for out-of-band business continuity connectivity. EchoSat delivers modular service packages, as well as value-added custom communication solutions, in the United States and other countries.

Created in July 2007, Override connects highly respected retail partners and consumers with fuel retailers. Customers can earn gasoline savings at participating Shaw`s Supermarkets and Dunkin` Donuts, and redeem their savings at hundreds of fuel locations throughout New England. The program is also offered to more than 37,000 New England-based employees, including employees at Shaw`s Supermarkets, through the Override employee program.

Framingham, Mass.-based Gulf Oil is one of the Northeast's largest wholesalers of refined petroleum products. It distributes motor fuels through a network of more than 2,400 Gulf-branded gasoline retail centers, 12 proprietary oil terminals and a network of more than 50 other supply terminals. Gulf Oil supplies heating oil, diesel fuel, jet fuel and kerosene to these branded retail outlets through its Gulf Oil brand. Through its unbranded subsidiary, Great Island Energy, Gulf Oil also supplies petroleum products as well as risk management and financial services to industrial, commercial and independent retail firms.
