KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Pilot Flying J, the largest operator of travel centers and travel plazas in North America, has selected a complete NCR Corp. retail point-of-sale (POS) solution.

As part of the agreement, Pilot Flying J is upgrading from a legacy transaction solution to an NCR software suite. The omni-commerce software platform streamlines deploying and managing in-store, mobile commerce and online storefront systems, ensuring consistent and personalized shopping experiences across all customer touch points.

Initially, Pilot Flying J is offering customer-assisted check-out in its storefronts, as well as mobile POS, allowing store associates greater mobility and an opportunity to assist and serve customers anywhere on the property. The combined network of more than 650 Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J Travel Plazas across North America serves more than 1.3 million customers daily.

"We are a driver-driven organization and as such, we are always looking for ways to add speed and simplicity for drivers whether they are fueling, eating at our restaurants or shopping in our storefronts," said executive vice president Ken Parent at Pilot Flying J. "NCR's complete retail solution allows us to stay ahead of the industry for years to come and remain committed to providing exceptional services for our professional truck drivers and other valued customers."

The NCR software solution offers Pilot Flying J additional back-office functionality and tools for customer marketing, as well as enabling potential new features such as online shopping.

"Pilot Flying J, with its multiple retail customer touch points in fueling, dining and general retail, is the perfect environment for a complete NCR software and hardware retail solution," said Dale Grant, vice president of global sales, NCR Retail. "Our focus in working with Pilot Flying J is to make the everyday easier for their employees and valued professional driver customers who are at the heart of their business. This technology allows Pilot Flying J to increase the speed of transactions and evolve how they market and serve customers going forward."

NCR allows retailers to break away from integrating disparate "silos" and migrates them to a single, flexible platform with centralized management, monitoring and control.

Pilot Flying J, the largest operator of travel centers and travel plazas in North America, is committed to making life better for professional drivers. Headquartered in Knoxville, Tenn., Pilot Flying J has more than 650 retail locations.

NCR Corp., Duluth, Ga., is the global leader in consumer transaction technologies, turning everyday interactions with businesses into exceptional experiences. With its software, hardware and portfolio of services, NCR enables more than 450 million transactions daily across the retail, financial, travel, hospitality, telecom and technology industries.
