SSCS Introduces Transaction Analysis

Cloud-based, device-independent application uses big data from POS

SALINAS, Calif. -- Service Station Computer Systems Inc. (SSCS) has introduced Transaction Analysis, a new application that leverages "big data" in real time to give convenience-store owners a transaction-level view of what's happening in their operation right now.

Cloud-based and device independent, Transaction Analysis reporting captures the information recorded at the store's point-of-sale (POS) system and organizes it into actionable information that can be used to maximize overall profitability and growth. Users have the option to drill down for more focused information to determine the source of potential issues.

Transaction Analysis can assist operators in identifying peak hours by day of week, determining which promotions work best, finding out which clerks have a knack for upselling, spotlighting suspicious activity at checkout and uncovering which items are consistently purchased with other items to create a foundation for meaningful market basket analysis.

Because reporting occurs in real time, convenience-store decision-makers can use the information they receive on their PC, smartphone or mobile device to take corrective action before issues have a chance to snowball.

Gerald Danniel of Liberty Petroleum Distributors & Travel Plazas in Harford, Pa., said, "The Transaction by Cashier report gave me the information and detail I needed to locate the source of our enterprise's high percentage of voided transactions and make the necessary personnel adjustments."

Accessed in the cloud, Transaction Analysis requires only a web browser and a desktop PC, mobile computer/tablet or smartphone.

"Transaction Analysis puts Big Data to work for our customers, delivering metric analysis with easy-to-grasp reporting augmented by graphics," said SSCS vice president of sales and marketing Al Stoeberl. "Users can pinpoint what happened and when it happened. This kind of information can keep a store on track or steer it in the right direction before profitability suffers."

Based in Salinas, Calif., SSCS is a leading supplier of backoffice management and automation solutions to petroleum retailers. The Computerized Daily Book (CDB), the company's flagship software program, has been installed in more than 15,000 dealer locations, the company said.
