Wright Express Honored in InformationWeek 500

Named as a top tech innovator for second year in a row

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine -- Wright Express Corp. has announced that InformationWeek has recognized it as one of the 500 most innovative users of business technology, for the second consecutive year.

For 24 years, InformationWeek editors have tracked the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America's best-known companies. In 2011 and again in 2012, Wright Express has been recognized for its focus and investment on innovation. The company's investment in mobile technology including its fuel site locator app, Octane, emphasizes this focus, it said.

Octane helps drivers find the lowest fuel prices and provides real-time fuel station data and up-to-date, local transaction-based prices. Additionally, the mobile app is the first in the industry to integrate text-to-speech technology for hands-free operation, said the company. This allows drivers to hear, rather than read directions to their selected fueling site and focus on driving safely.

"We are honored to receive this prestigious award again in 2012 for our commitment to technology, which reflects our ongoing commitment to develop innovative products driven by customer demand," said George Hogan, senior vice president and chief information officer at Wright Express. "The innovation teams at Wright Express should be extremely proud of this award, and I congratulate everyone for the vital role they play in enabling our technology leadership strategy."

The publication unveiled the annual list on September 11 at an awards ceremony during the InformationWeek 500 Conference in Dana Point, Calif.
