LUFKIN, Texas -- Grocery chain Brookshire Brothers Inc. has announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell 26 Polk Pick-It-Up convenience stores in eastern Texas to San Antonio-based Partners Investors C-Stores Ltd., reported KTRE.
Brookshire Brothers will keep its Polk Pick-It-Up locations in Hudson, Central Heights, Central and Wells, the company said.
“We are continuously evaluating our business to ensure optimal resource utilization,” John Alston, Brookshire Brothers' COO, said in a press release. “Our focus is to provide an exceptional shopping experience for our customers in all of our formats, including the recently launched Brookshire Brothers Express banner.”
The grocery chain will continue “to expand beyond its current footprint.” In 2015, Brookshire Brothers will be opening stores in Hamilton, Pilot Point, and Canyon Lake, Texas, said the report.
“We are looking at the whole company,” Sally Alvis, a spokeswoman for Brookshire Brothers, told the KTRE. “We are growing where it makes sense.”
Brookshire Brothers was founded in 1921. The company is 100% employee owned, and its assets include retail outlets incorporating grocery stores, convenience stores and freestanding pharmacy, tobacco and gas-station locations.
Lufkin, Texas-based Brookshire Brothers acquired Polk Oil in July 2007.
