Anabi Oil, which owns Rebel convenience stores, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Green Valley Grocery, the company announced Friday afternoon. The acquisition includes 87 Green Valley Grocery convenience stores across southern Nevada.

Anabi Oil had 490 stores as of Jan. 1, and, once complete, the acquisition will boost its store count to more than 570.

The Green Valley Grocery c-store chain was founded in 1978 by Richard T. Crawford. Over the next five decades, Crawford grew the company into a household name recognized for its customer service, convenience and community support, Anabi Oil said.

“When I first came to Las Vegas in the 1970s, I saw so much potential, and I’m glad to say that I was right,” Crawford said. “Nevada is a state made for small business growth. This is an amazing city, and a wonderful community, and I’m fortunate to have been able to begin and run a business that has been a part of so many Las Vegans’ lives.”

Las Vegas-based Green Valley Grocery and Rebel each bring unique strengths to the Las Vegas market, Anabi Oil said, and the combined network will drive innovation, expand loyalty programs and create efficiencies that position the business to honor Green Valley Grocery’s legacy while investing in its future.

Anabi Oil told CSP that it intends to keep the Green Valley Grocery brand.

“Green Valley Grocery has been a cornerstone of Las Vegas for nearly 50 years, and we are honored to carry that legacy forward,” said Sam Anabi, founder and owner of Anabi Oil. “This acquisition is about our long-term commitment to Nevada: keeping the Green Valley Grocery name alive, strengthening Rebel’s place in the community, and continuing to invest in the future of convenience for the families and neighborhoods we serve.”

The acquisition is pending customary approvals.

Upland, California-based Anabi Oil, founded in 1991, owns the Rebel convenience-store brand, which it acquired from Las Vegas-based Rebel Oil Co. in 2016. In June 2024, Anabi Oil acquired the petroleum marketing, convenience retail and quick-service restaurant (QSR) businesses of Land O’Sun Management Corp., doing business as Fast Track, based in Gainesville, Florida.

Midjit Market owns and operates the Green Valley Grocery chain of convenience stores in the Las Vegas, Mesquite and Pahrump, Nevada, markets. The stores bill themselves as "your neighborhood convenience stores." All units are open 24 hours a day, and car washes are available at several locations. Green Valley Grocery is part of the Crawford Group Nevada, which also includes Crawford Oil, a Shell jobber that sells to Green Valley Grocery and outside accounts.
