Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. has acquired Dusterhoft Family Stores, with two convenience stores in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The 32nd Avenue Cenex and Demers Interstate Cenex expect to transition ownership next week.

A Couche-Tard spokesperson told CSP that the date for transition of ownership is still to be determined.

Dusterhoft Family Stores has been in business for nearly five decades. “The decision to transfer ownership of Dusterhoft Family Stores to Circle K was not made lightly,” said Scott Dusterhoft, owner. “For nearly 50 years, the Grand Forks community has been at the heart of everything we do. While we are excited for what lies ahead, it’s incredibly important for us to recognize and thank our loyal customers and employees who have supported us over the years.”

Circle K, known globally for its “robust” convenience-store network, “will uphold the service standards the community has come to rely on, Dusterhoft said, and the locations will continue to operate, ensuring uninterrupted service to the community.

“The Dusterhoft Family Stores team wishes to assure customers that their legacy of quality service and community impact will remain a priority during and after this transition,” the company said in announcing the sale on its website.

“While the torch will be passed to Circle K, Dusterhoft Family Stores extends its deepest gratitude to the Grand Forks community for decades of patronage, trust and camaraderie. From fueling vehicles to hosting charitable events, the Dusterhoft name has been intertwined with the lives of locals, and the memories created will be cherished for years to come, it said.

“To the Grand Forks community, thank you for allowing us to serve you and become a part of your lives. You have truly made our 48 years in business unforgettable,” Dusterhoft said.

“We look forward to completing our acquisition of the two Dusterhoft Family Stores in the coming months, welcoming their great team into our family, adding their high-quality sites to our store network and bringing the Circle K experience to more customers in Grand Forks,” the Couche-Tard spokesperson said.
