Colonial Oil Industries, a division of Savannah-headquartered Colonial Group, Inc., said it has acquired Atkinson Oil Co., LLC, a Sandersville, Georgia-based distributor of fuel and lubricants.
The acquisition is expected to strengthen Colonial Oil Industries’ presence across the Southeast and expand its ability to deliver fuel and lubricant products to customers in the region, the company said in a statement Friday. The acquisition will extend Colonial Oil’s operations in Sandersville and Macon, Georgia, with all existing facilities to remain in operation, the company said. It will bring 14 Atkinson Oil employees to Colonial Oil.
“Atkinson Oil is a highly respected, relationship-driven business with deep roots in the communities it serves,” said Christian Demere, president and CEO of Colonial Group, adding that the deal aligns with the company’s regional growth strategy.
Colonial Oil said customers and partners of both companies should expect uninterrupted service as it integrates the business.
“This transition reflects a shared commitment to safety, service excellence and customer relationships, ensuring continuity for our customers while providing expanded resources and long-term growth opportunities under Colonial Oil’s leadership,” Clint Hancock, CEO of Atkinson Oil, said.
Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Matrix Capital Markets Group, a division of Citizens, advised Atkinson Oil, an affiliate of Jet Food Stores of Georgia, Inc. “Jet Food Stores will use the proceeds from the transaction to reinvest and grow its premier convenience store business,” Matrix Capital Markets Group said Tuesday. Jet Food Stores is a chain of 54 convenience stores throughout central and southern Georgia.
