LAWRENCE, Mass. —Energy North Group has acquired eight units in Maine from Tradewinds Markets, consisting of seven convenience stores and one car wash. The acquisition of an eighth c-store is pending.

Family-owned and -operated Tradewinds Markets operates 15 units in Maine, which include c-stores, car washes and supermarkets.

The locations offer CITGO-branded fuel and include ethanol-free options, according to the chain's website. It features eateries such as Dunkin’ Donuts, Tim Horton’s, Subways, Coastal Juice & Smoothie, Broaster Chicken and its own Anchor Delis. Many locations feature car washes, pharmacies, pet wash stations and the chain's Craft Beers and Wines From Maine and the World selection.

"Energy North has a lot of the same visions of being a good community citizen, and we feel they will continue strong community support to ensure we have healthy communities," said Chuck Lawrence, founder of Bangor, Maine-based Tradewinds Markets.

C-Store Investments LLC, Gilford, N.H., provided advisory and transactional services to Energy North Group. Talks for the deal began prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the broker said.

Based in Lawrence, Mass., Energy North Group operates 65 gas stations, c-stores, car washes and foodservice locations in New England and Upstate New York. Its Haffner Energy Group operates the stations and distributes heating oil and propane and offers heating and cooling services.
