On Thursday, Nouria announced it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire convenience retailer Enmarket from its parent company Colonial Group. The strategic decision marks a significant milestone in Enmarket’s journey, the company said in a statement posted on LinkedIn Friday.

“We have aligned with a company that shares our commitment to exceptional service and quality products,” Enmarket said. “For our employees, this partnership means joining forces with a company that shares our values of integrity, community focus, and dedication to creating positive experiences—for our teams and our customers alike.”

Tony El-Nemr, CEO and founder of Nouria Energy, and other members of Nouria’s leadership team, visited Enmarket’s offices and store locations the week the news was announced to welcome them to the family company, Enmarket said.

  • Nouria Energy, the 2024 CSP Mystery Shop winner, is No. 44 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by total number of company-owned stores. Enmarket is No. 55.

“After learning more about the Nouria vision and getting to know their leadership team, we are incredibly excited about the many opportunities this will provide our employees and customers,” Enmarket said. “We deeply appreciate your continued support as we embark on this new chapter. We look forward to serving you with even more resources and experience in the future. Stay tuned for more updates as we move forward together.”

The acquisition of more than 132 Enmarket convenience stores and nearly 26 Enmarket car washes will extend Nouria’s reach into the Southeast, strengthening its retail presence and expanding its footprint beyond its current base in the Northeast.

Founded in 1921, Colonial Group is a Savannah, Georgia-based company with roots in the energy and logistics sectors. Enmarket, its retail convenience-store subsidiary, operates in Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina.

Nouria said it is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for both Enmarket employees and customers. All existing Enmarket stores will remain operational, and Nouria plans to build on Enmarket’s strong foundation by leveraging its own resources, technology and expertise to elevate the overall customer experience, it said.

Founded in 1989, Nouria Energy is a family-owned and operated business based in Worcester, Massachusetts. It operates more than 170 convenience stores, 61 carwash locations and an extensive unbranded wholesale fuel distribution network with a significant number of branded dealers throughout the Northeast.
