FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- After 46 years in business, Hallum Inc. has exited the fuel-supply and convenience-store business. Hallum sold all retail assets and fuel-supply agreements to Jackson Energy.

Starting with one gas station in Flagstaff, Ariz., in 1972, Wayne Hallum became a leading fuel supplier and c-store operator in the Southwest. Over the years, brothers Steve and David Hallum took the helm and ran the company.

Hallum owns and operates seven convenience stores, two in Flagstaff, two in Prescott and one each in Cottonwood, Kingman and Pinetop, Ariz.

“After a comprehensive review of our operations and studying the current consolidation activity among c-store retailers and jobbers, it was clear that this was an opportune time to exit the business,” said Steve Hallum.

Robert Valentine of Trefethen Advisors, Scottsdale, Ariz., provided advisory services to Hallum Inc.

Jacksons Energy was founded in Caldwell, Idaho, in 1975 as a single service station. Jacksons has grown to be a nationally recognized marketer of more than 900 Chevron, Texaco, Shell, Phillips and ExxonMobil branded c-stores in nine Western states. Jacksons Food Stores Inc. is based in Meridian, Idaho. Its affiliates Capitol Distributing Inc. and Jackson Energy provide wholesale grocery and fuel-supply services to retailers in nine Western states.

Jacksons Food Stores has rebranded about 60 of its company-owned convenience stores to Chevron’s ExtraMile brand as part of a new joint venture, ExtraMile Convenience Stores LLC, with San Ramon, Calif.-based Chevron USA Inc.
