The Kent Cos., which operates Kent Kwik convenience stores, has acquired Whit’s Grocery. The store has operated in Midland, Texas, since 1983.

“Locally owned and deeply cherished, Whit’s has always stood for friendly service, great food and that unmistakable hometown spirit. It’s more than just a convenience store—it’s a piece of Midland’s community, and we’re beyond grateful to be part of its next chapter,” The Kent Cos. said in a statement on its website Wednesday.

  • The Kent Cos. is No. 68 on CSP’s 2024 Top 202 ranking of U.S. convenience-store chains by store count.

The Kent Cos. thanked Whit’s customers and said its goal was to “keep what makes Whit’s special while doing our part to serve the community just as it always has.”

The Kent Cos., based in Midland, Texas, operates convenience stores and truck stops under the Kent Kwik and Bountyland banners. It offers food through its five Rustic Café locations and Kwik Eats Deli, which has made-to-order burgers, pizza, breakfast burritos and more. The Kent Cos. has more than 100 stores in Alabama, Florida, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and North and South Carolina.

In May 2024, The Kent Cos. acquired Jack’s Convenience Stores, which included eight c-stores in Midland, San Angelo and Abilene, Texas.
