LA CROSSE, Wis. — Kwik Trip Inc. is acquiring four Dells Travel Mart locations from Travel Mart Inc., according to a report by Wisconsin Dells Events.

Travel Mart President and CEO Jeremy Alsaker said a purchase agreement is in place for Kwik Trip to acquire four of the seven Dells Travel Marts. One of those stores will become a Kwik Trip while the others will be revitalized into “other things,” he told the newspaper, but did not offer details. The Dells Travel Mart Pharmacy in one location has closed, and Dunkin’ Donuts units inside the four locations will be remodeled or relocated, he said.

Kwik Trip declined a CSP request for comment on the deal.

The seller’s remaining three locations will continue to operate as Travel Marts, the report said. The company is offering existing staff at the stores that Kwik Trip is purchasing employment options at parent company Holiday Wholesale and its Vacationland Vending service, as well as communicating with Kwik Trip about offering positions to current Travel Mart employees, the report said.

Wisconsin Dells, Wis.-based Travel Mart is a unit of Holiday Wholesale, a broad-line distributor serving more than 6,500 customers in Wisconsin and parts of Illinois, Iowa, Michigan and Minnesota.

“It was just the right time,” Alsaker told the paper concerning the sale. “I think we’ve done a lot of things well. I think we will continue to do a lot of things well. We have other businesses we are growing, and I think it really comes down to those basis things.”

The companies expect to complete the deal later this year or early next year. “We are certainly going to be actively engaged in running great locations until the closing, and we’ll continue to serve the community and tourists and highway travelers to a high level,” he said.

La Crosse, Wis.-based Kwik Trip is building two new locations in Wisconsin Dells, said the report, one across the street from one of the four Travel Marts.
