Maverik is rebranding Oklahoma Kum & Go convenience stores, a state not mentioned in Maverik’s original plans.

When Maverik bought Kum & Go in 2023, the Salt Lake City-based chain said it would rebrand Kum & Go stores in Colorado, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming starting in January 2024.

CSPreported in August 2023 that Chuck Maggelet, Maverik’s CEO at the time, said the Salt Lake City-based company was still deciding on whether to rebrand other Kum & Go locations.

A post on Reddit included a screen grab from Maverik with the news. “All Oklahoma Kum & Go locations are gearing up to take convenience to the next level when they reopen as MaverikAdventure’s Next Stop!” it read on the image.

The image lists the expected store closure and reopening dates of eight locations throughout October. They are two each in Claremore and Broken Arrow and one each in Locust Grove, Sapulpa, Pryor and Coweta.

“We’re trying to make the transitions as seamless as possible, but there will be some brief closures during the turnover,” the post reads. “In order to reduce any downtime, we’re rebranding the stores to Maverik on the inside, and reopening ASAP as Maverik before we replace the outside signage (*New outdoor signage will follow shortly after.)

A story by Public Radio Tulsa, KWGS 89.5, lists an additional three locations in Tulsa, one each in Jenks and Owasso, and another location in Claremore.

The rebrand of Oklahoma Kum & Go c-stores is expected to end by 2025, Maverik said in a statement, according to Public Radio Tulsa, KWGS 89.5, which added that all Oklahoma Kum & Go c-stores will be rebranded.

Kum & Go’s website lists 42 locations in Oklahoma.

CSP has not heard back from Maverik at the time of this posting.

Salt Lake City-based Maverik, which in 2023 acquired the Kum & Go c-store chain, has more than 500 Maverik-branded locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Montana, New Mexico, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. There are approximately 400 Kum & Go-branded locations in 12 states: Arkansas, Colorado, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming. Maverik is in the process of rebranding the Kum & Go stores to the Maverik brand.
