Mega Saver has acquired three Kum & Go convenience stores in Nebraska from Maverik. The c-store chain and cell phone retailer told CSP Daily News on Monday that the deal was finalized earlier this month.
The stores are in Omaha at 14353 Q St., 10025 S. 168th Ave. and 2627 S. HWS Cleveland Boulevard.
“These are beautiful, well-maintained stores, and we saw a great opportunity to expand into more local neighborhoods where we can offer our deeper discounts and the full Mega Saver experience,” Mega Saver Media Manager Kassie Schenck said. “We’re also proud to be keeping the same friendly staff who have been serving these communities.”
Schenck said Mega Saver plans to make some light remodels to the stores to bring in the full range of Mega Saver’s offerings, including its extensive selection of imported snacks, drinks, phone accessories and more. Each location will also have a grand opening celebration in the coming weeks.
- Maverik is No. 12 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.
Omaha-based Mega Saver has about 40 locations in Nebraska, Iowa and Florida, according to its website, with about half listed as Mega Saver convenience stores and gas stations and the other half listed as phone stores, car repair shops or computer and cellphone repairs stores.
Maverik acquired 400 Kum & Go c-stores in August 2023. As of April, the Salt Lake City-based chain said it had rebranded more than 180 Kum & Go stores to Maverik. At the time, Maverik had not revealed its schedule for rebranding Kum & Go locations in Nebraska, as well as Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, North Dakota and South Dakota. Maverik could not immediately be reached for more information on the sale.
