Update: Quality Oil paid $9.42 million for 11 of the 23 Four Brothers c-stores, according to a report by the Winston-Salem Journal, citing the Forsyth County Register of Deeds. Those sales were completed Sept. 15, it said.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Quality Oil Co. has acquired Beroth Oil Co. and its 23 Four Brothers convenience stores. The c-stores are in nine North Carolina counties, including Forsyth, Yadkin, Davie, Stokes, Surry, Wilkes, Iredell, Alexander and Alleghany.

“We have long admired the Beroth family and their operation and are excited about this acquisition,” said Graham Bennett, President of Quality Oil, Winston-Salem, N.C. “Both companies have outstanding core values and a dedication to maintaining quality service, professional employees and devotion to our customers.”

“It was not an easy decision to sell the business,” said Walter Beroth, president of Winston-Salem-based Beroth Oil. “After over 60 years of serving the Triad and surrounding communities, the Beroth family and our Four Brothers team are very pleased that we will be transitioning the business to Quality Oil Co., a like-minded and local family-owned company. … We think Quality Oil with their similar customer service culture will be great fit for many years to come.”

Quality Oil plans to rebrand the Four Brothers stores, the report said. The company will convert the 23 locations into Quality Marts, the company said.

Quality Oil also said it will retain all store employees and field staff.

Founded in 1929, Quality Oil operates 117 Quality Mart convenience stores and Quality Plus gas stations. It also owns hotels in the region.
