Refuel Operating Co. LLC has acquired eight convenience stores in Mississippi. The c-stores are in the greater Meridian and Jackson market, continuing Refuel’s expansion across the Southeast, the North Charleston, South Carolina-based company said on Thursday.

The stores will be part of Refuel’s Double Quick brand.

“We’re thrilled to expand our Double Quick brand into the Meridian and Jackson area and continue growing our presence in Mississippi,” Frank Crilley, vice president of operations at Refuel, said. “Most importantly, we’re excited to welcome all of the new team members to the Refuel/Double Quick family. Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we look forward to supporting our new employees as we integrate these locations into our network.”

Refuel Co-President Travis Smith told CSP the stores were acquired from one owner, but he declined to name the owner. The acquired stores are high-volume, large-format stores with fuel, and Refuel will add its proprietary foodservice to them, he said.

  • Refuel Operating Co. LLC is No. 37 on CSP’s 2025 Top 40 update to the Top 202 list. Look out for the full list in mid-June.

Refuel has a Hot N’ Crispy chicken program, according to its website, as well as Quick Eats, which includes pizza, kolaches, cheeseburgers, boiled peanuts and more.

Refuel is a convenience-store and retail fuel operator with more than 240 stores under the Refuel Market and Double Quick brands. It is a portfolio company of First Reserve, a global private equity investment firm focusing on the energy and industrial value chains.

The company has a history of growth through acquisition. In 2024, Refuel's store count grew by three locations. In 2023, Refuel acquired eight convenience stores through two separate deals. In 2022, Refuel made several acquisitions, including two CEFCO stores from Fikes Wholesale Inc and the assets of Embark Energy.
