Reliance Oil LLC has closed on the purchase of six Shell-branded convenience stores from SAC Inc., an operator of c-stores in Pennsylvania.
Terry Monroe, president of Fort Myers, Florida-based American Business Brokers and Advisors, provided merger and acquisition services to SAC and announced the deal on Monday.
- Reliance Oil is No. 103 on CSP’s2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-stores by store count.
The sale only included the Shell-branded c-stores and Shell wholesale portion of the many businesses that SAC owns, Monroe said. Two of the stores are in Bedford, two are in Everett, one is in Breezewood and one is in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania.
SAC was started by Skyles Calhoun in the 1970s. After more than 40 years, the family decided to step away from the c-store business to spend more time with its other businesses, including a heating oil distributorship, a propane distributorship and auto parts stores, Monroe said.
Ash Patel, vice president and CFO for Reliance Oil, said the acquisition of SAC stores was a natural fit with the other stores Reliance has in the Pennsylvania area.
Selinsgrove, Pennsylvania-based Reliance Oil was founded in 1995 by Kirit Patel, and it has 70 retail motor fuel and c-store locations in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, North Carolina, Indiana and Florida.
