Short Stop Food Stores Buys Bowie’s Travel Center in Menard, Texas

Short Stop Food Stores has completed its acquisition of the former Bowie’s Travel Center and Convenience Store in Menard, Texas, commercial real estate brokerage firm Marcus & Millichap has announced.

The transaction was facilitated by Houston-based The Luna-Thakor Group, a unit of Marcus & Millichap, Calabasas, California, representing both the seller and buyer.

Charlie and Linda Reichenau, owners with their son Clint Reichenau of Mason, Texas-based Short Stop Food Stores, have 49 years in the convenience-store business and operate a chain of 11 more Short Stop locations in Eden, Ballinger, Santa Anna, Mason, Llano, London, Junction, Rocksprings and Boerne, Texas, according to a report by The Menard News.

Bowie’s, located at 1692 North U.S. 83, is a 4,995-square-foot truckstop on five acres and features 16 fueling positions under the Valero brand.

Since 2019, Bowie’s Truck Stop has been a staple in Menard, Texas, providing a range of services to both local residents and travelers. It is known for theme-specific novelties.

A Bowie’s Truck Stop in Tuscola, Texas, is also for sale, according to the Marcus & Millichap website.
