Southwest Georgia Oil Co. Inc. has acquired Big Boss Stores’ 10 convenience stores.

The deal, announced Thursday, also includes the company’s commercial and wholesale fuel and warehouse operations, and additional real estate sites, Southwest Georgia Oil said.

The Big Boss retail sites are located throughout the Florida Panhandle, and they will be integrated into Southwest Georgia Oil’s convenience-store network. Nine of the acquired locations will operate under Southwest Georgia Oil’s SunStop banner, expanding the company’s total store count to 91 across Georgia, Florida and Alabama. The company plans to open its 92nd SunStop store later this year, it said.

  • Southwest Georgia Oil Co. is No. 88 on CSP’s 2025 Top 202 ranking of U.S. c-store chains by store count.

Big Boss Stores are in Destin, Crestview, Niceville, Ponce de Leon and DeFuniak Springs, Florida, according to its website. All stores sell Nathan’s Famous hot dogs, while others have made-to-order food programs from Core-Mark including Perfectly Southern Fried Chicken, Contigo Taqueria and Red Seal Pizza.

Southwest Georgia Oil has also incorporated Big Boss Stores’ commercial and wholesale fuel and warehouse operations, currently operating as Phillips Energy, into its Total Petroleum division.

The acquisition expands Southwest Georgia Oil’s retail presence while reinforcing its commitment to delivering reliable fuel supply, convenient retail experiences and responsive service across the communities it serves, the Bainbridge, Georgia-based company said.
