When it comes to candy, consumer's yen for sweets surpasses pricing yang.

While candy lately has been called “recession-proof” due in part to consumers’ turn toward comfort and inexpensive indulgence when money is  tight, the confectionery market has also been subject to rising prices and economic uncertainty. Commodity prices, supply and demand, and the general state of economic affairs have forced prices upward.

And with that, the idea of finding a candy bar for under $1 is getting harder to chew.
