The First Modified-Risk Approval Might Be for a Cigarette
22nd Century Group Inc., Williamsville, N.Y., believes it has two cigarettes that should qualify as modified risk: a low-nicotine option that could help wean smokers off cigarettes and a higher-nicotine option that allows smokers to puff fewer times.
Uncertainty Remains on Premium-Cigar Regs
In April, the FDA asked for feedback on whether premium cigars should be treated differently than the rest of the category. Though manufacturers are not optimistic premium cigars will be exempted, many believe the segment will be subject to less stringent regulations.
