Awrey Bakeries Announces New President & CEO

Bakery-industry vet Wallace to head fresh, frozen baked goods company
LIVONIA, Mich. -- Awrey Bakeries LLC has appointed Robert A. Wallace president and CEO. In has 28-year career in the baking industry, Wallace has held various executive and leadership positions including president and CEO North America for Bridor Inc., Boucherville, Quebec; president and CEO of BakeMark Ingredients Inc., Chicago; senior vice president of the bakery division for Bunge Foods, Chicago; and president North America for the bakery division of International Multifoods, Minneapolis.

Founded in 1910, Awrey Bakeries is a privately owned national premium bakery producing [image-nocss] and selling fresh and frozen baked goods for wholesale and retail distribution throughout the United States and Canada. The company's 130 product lines include danish pastries, muffins & donuts, biscuits and rolls, cakes and brownies. It is a leading provider of frozen thaw-and-serve baked goods for the foodservice and bakery markets. And it is a major baked goods producer serving a variety of customers ranging from convenience stores to the U.S. military.

The company has 300 employees and is located in Livonia, Mich. Awrey Bakeries has bounced back from filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in early 2005. The principal shareholders of Awrey Bakeries are now Hilco Equity and Monomoy Capital Partners, both based in Northbrook, Ill.
