Doritos, Flamin’ Hot Flavors Up the Jerky Game

Jack Link’s and Frito-Lay partnership introduces new meat snacks

The beef jerky category leveled up in heat with a partnership between Jack Link’s, Minong, Wisconsin, and Frito-Lay, Plano, Texas. The brands collaborated to create Jack Link’s Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili flavored and Flamin’ Hot flavored Original beef jerky and meat sticks.

“Jack Link’s has always been about pushing boundaries and bringing bold experiences to our fans through our high-quality meat snacks,” said Stephanie Leibke, vice president of marketing for the Jack Link’s brand. “Through this legendary collaboration with Frito-Lay, we can take consumers on the next epic snacking adventure we know they are hungry for.”

For Frito-Lay, the jerky is a response to consumers’ interest in flavor collaborations and spicy snacks.

“We know consumers are looking for exciting and intense flavors across the salty and meat snacks categories, so Jack Link’s high-quality meat products in Flamin’ Hot Original and Doritos Spicy Sweet Chili flavors are the perfect mashup to shake up the snack aisle,” said Sangeetha Ragavan, senior marketing director at Frito-Lay. “Frito-Lay is also continuously looking for new ways to expand into the savory snacking category and bring our iconic, fan-favorite flavors to consumers in new and innovative formats.”

The partnership reaches for consumers that are fans of both brands.

“These bold new offerings are intended to expand the meat snacks offered to consumers and reach new and existing meat snack lovers with fan-favorite flavors they know and love,” said Ragavan.

Both flavors are offered in a 2.65-ounce bag format with a suggested retail price of $8.49. The snack also comes in a meat stick variety, in 0.92-ounce packages with a suggested retail price of $1.79. All flavors and sizes are available nationwide.

“We suggest retailers merchandise the product as the newest, epic snack with bold flavors from Jack Link’s and Frito-Lay,” said Ragavan. “The goal of the collaboration is to create bold new snack offerings to both new and existing meat snack lovers.”

Frito-Lay and Jack Link’s innovative have leveled up the snacking experience, said Leslie Vesper, vice president of marketing at Frito-Lay.
