BERKELEY, Calif. — Plant-based snacking company The Good Bean has rolled out Chocolate Covered Chickpeas, a new line of whole-bean snacks.

The treats come in Dark Chocolate, Milk Chocolate and Mocha Chocolate.  The new product starts with a lightly roasted and crunchy whole chickpea. The chickpea is then covered with chocolate and a crispy candy shell, making it similar to a malted milk ball.

The snack has 3 grams of protein and 130 calories per serving. Chocolate Covered Chickpeas are made in small batches with fair trade chocolate and chickpeas grown in the United States, the company said.

All products from The Good Bean, Berkeley, Calif., are non-GMO project verified and gluten-free.

The snack is available for a suggested retail price of $4.50 per bag.

The Good Bean recently acquired Austin, Texas-based Beanitos, maker of better-for-you bean-based chips and puffs.
