IRVINE, Calif. — Candy manufacturer Morinaga America has launched the newest variety of Hi-Chew, Hi-Chew Sweet & Sour Mix, at select retailers nationwide. The tangy and tart concoction features Grapefruit, Lemon and Watermelon flavors  in 3.17-ounce peg bags and 12.7-ounce stand-up bags for suggested retail prices of $2.39 and $5.99, respectively. Hi-Chew Sweet & Sour Mix is made with real fruit juice purees and is 100% free of gluten, cholesterol and artificial colors.

Watermelon is the newest flavor addition to Hi-Chew’s portfolio, bringing the total number of Hi-Chew flavors to 17. The company describes this flavor as a “satisfyingly sweet take on the summer fruit with a subtle sour twist.”

"Watermelon is a beloved fruit here in the States, and we're excited to reveal our new offering that showcases a delightful, slightly sour twist on the real fruit taste," said Tatsuya Takamiya, chief marketing officer of Morinaga America. "As we continue to grow our flavor offerings, we saw a great opportunity for the Sweet & Sour Mix to introduce Watermelon and create a complementary combination of vibrant flavors that Hi-Chew fans love."

Irvine, Calif.-based Morinaga America Inc., a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Morinaga & Co. Ltd., is the official Hi-Chew distributor in the United States, selling the chewy candies in flavors such as Strawberry, Green Apple, Mango, Grape, Banana, Melon and Kiwi. The candy launched in the United States in 2008.
