Idrovo Joins Hershey as SVP of Strategy, Business Development

Candy company also adds new public affairs, social responsibility exec
HERSHEY, Pa. -- The Hershey Co. has announced that Javier H. Idrovo is joining the company as senior vice president of strategy and business development, effective November 3. Idrovo will report to David J. West, president and CEO, and will serve as a member of the Hershey Executive Team.

In this new role, Idrovo will lead the implementation of Hershey's strategic plan and will be responsible for long-term strategic planning. Idrovo will provide a strategic approach to Hershey's merger and acquisition activities. He will also help create the framework for long-range financial [image-nocss] and operational decision-making and identify the geographies and segments that are crucial for the company's global growth.

"Over the past year, we have developed and launched a very strong strategic plan," West said. "Javier's extensive background both in leading a global consumer business and as a management consultant will be of immense value as we implement our plan across the organization. Javier will ensure that we have the proper resources and alignment to successfully implement our strategy and drive long-term growth."

Previously, Idrovo was president of Dole Packaged Foods LLC, where he led Dole's worldwide packaged fruit products business, delivering significant growth in revenue. He also served as vice president and CFO of Dole Packaged Foods. From 2001 to 2005, he served as senior vice president of strategy, for Dole Food Co., where he was responsible for developing the company's three-year strategic plan, setting growth and profitability targets and developing metrics to measure company performance. Prior to joining Dole, Idrovo worked at The Boston Consulting Group, where he analyzed issues and implemented solutions related to business strategy and operational effectiveness for a number of clients in various industries.

The Hershey, Pa.-based company also announced that Andy McCormick is joining the company as vice president of public affairs, effective November 10. He will report to Charlene H. Binder, senior vice president and chief people officer.

In this new position, McCormick will lead Hershey's global corporate social responsibility, community relations, product publicity and corporate communications activities.

McCormick will be responsible for building Hershey's brands through product publicity, and will be responsible for all internal and external nonfinancial communications. In addition, he will lead Hershey's corporate social responsibility efforts, including sustainability and ethical supply chain solutions, environmental stewardship and leadership in the area of responsible cocoa growing. He will also lead corporate giving, continue to strengthen the company's ties with Milton Hershey School and lead community outreach and operations for Hershey's Track & Field Games.

McCormick joins Hershey from Pfizer Inc., where he was vice president of worldwide communications. Since joining Pfizer in 1993, McCormick has led media relations and product, financial and public affairs communications for the world's largest pharmaceutical company. He also led communications on issues such as wellness and prevention, medical access in the United States and developing world and the dangers of counterfeit drugs.

Before joining Pfizer, he held positions at IBM Corp. and at daily newspapers in Virginia and Wilmington, Del. He has also worked in Ghana as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer.
