TEMPE, Ariz. -- Northern Tier Bakery LLC is voluntarily recalling Twix Bismarck doughnuts distributed to convenience stores due to the possibility of an undeclared peanut allergen in the Twix topping.
The Twix Bismarck is a white frosted doughnut with a chopped Twix topping.
The St. Paul Park, Minn.-based bakery distributed the Twix Bismarck to convenience stores in Minnesota and Wisconsin, where they were sold between January 1 and January 14, 2015.
The company initiated the recall after it discovered peanut allergen in the chopped Twix product that a third party distributed to Northern Tier Bakery in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. It has suspended production of the Twix Bismarck.
No illnesses have been reported to date, and there currently is no evidence that any Twix Bismarck distributed for sale contains a peanut allergen. Nonetheless, Northern Tier Bakery has issued this recall in an abundance of caution, to ensure the safety of consumers. Northern Tier Bakery takes every precaution necessary to ensure the integrity and quality of its products, it said.
