Oberto Gets in the Holiday Spirit With Ugly Sweater Contest

Video competition features All-Pro football players

SEATTLE -- Imagine a couple of beefy football players. Imagine them in ugly Christmas sweaters. Got the picture?

Now turn that beef into beef jerky, and you have the Oberto Ugly Sweater sweepstakes, featuring All-Pros Rob Gronkowski and Richard Sherman. The online contest, which ran through Dec. 18 on Oberto's Facebook page in celebration of National Ugly Christmas Sweater Day (Dec. 16), generated several hundred entries and lots of pictures of ugly sweaters.

Winners, selected at random, are Jennifer Haley of Covington, Wash., who scored the signed Richard Sherman sweater; and Erick Daniel of Bend, Ore., who won the signed Rob Gronkowski-Gronk sweater.

To support the contest throughout the entire holiday season, Oberto will donate 20% of all sales it receives from its online shop through Dec. 31 to the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation and Sherman’s Blanket Coverage Foundation.

Founded by Gronkowski and his brothers, the Gronk Nation Youth Foundation is an organization dedicated to inspiring and supporting our youth through positive involvement in sports, community activities, education and fitness.

Sherman’s Blanket Coverage Foundation was formed to provide students in low-income communities with school supplies and clothing so they can more adequately achieve their goals.

The Oberto Facebook page featured Gronkowski and Sherman hanging out in a garage talking about their ugly sweaters, all while eating jerky. To enter to win, contestants shared a picture of themselves wearing their best ugly sweater in the comments section below the video on Facebook, with the hashtags #ObertoUglySweater and #Sweepstakes.

"It was awesome getting to perform on camera with Richard and the Oberto team,” said Gronkowski.

“For me, I always love seeing the fans in their gear on Sundays and showing their support,” said Sherman. “So it’s awesome that I have the opportunity to now team up with Rob and our Oberto family to help give back through this fun ugly sweater social contest. I can’t wait to see the fans send in their creative yet ‘ugly’ holiday style."
