Pioneer Snacks Honors Sheetz

Road Ready a big seller for retailer

CLAYSBURG, Pa. Meat snack manufacturer Pioneer Snacks Inc. presented convenience store chain Sheetz Inc. with Pioneer's Retailer of the Year award.

The award recognized Sheetz's commitment to Pioneer's Road Ready line, topping the charts with highest purchases from a c-store retailer over the past year in the Road Ready category.

Phil Fischioni, Pioneer Snacks' national sales manager, presented the award to Josh Campbell, purchasing manager for snacks, confections and beverages for Sheetz. Altoona, Pa.-based Sheetz is a privately [image-nocss] owned chain with more than 325 stores in six Mid-Atlantic states.

Pioneer's Road Ready line features five flavors of sausage snack sticks: Hunter Sausage, VeriTeri Teriyaki, Jalapeno Rage, Fired Up and Smoked Sausage. The sticks are packed in a clear plastic recloseable container. The canister fits into car cup holders, a feature designed for snacking on the road.

Meanwhile, Claysburg, Pa.-based Pioneer Snacks' new TenderStrips debuted on August 1. TenderStrips are high in protein and low in fat, and they are available in four flavors: Original, Hickory Smoked, Teriyaki, and Hot & Spicy. They come in a gusseted pouch for a variety of merchandising options.
