Prairie City Bakery Introduces New Dessert Line

Includes Oatmeal Carmelita, Chocolate Almond Coconut and Apple Cinnamon Crumble

VERNON HILLS, Ill. — Prairie City Bakery has a new line inspired by homemade desserts.

The Down Home Delights Delectable Dessert Bar line includes Oatmeal Carmelita, Chocolate Almond Coconut and Apple Cinnamon Crumble treats. The baked goods are individually wrapped and have a suggested retail price of $1.59 to $1.79.

The snacks come in 10-pack merchandisers and have a 30-day ambient shelf life, according to the company. Products are available for order and should be in stores by Jan. 1.

Founded in 1994, Prairie City Bakery, Vernon Hills, Ill., provides fully baked, thaw-and-sell bakery solutions to the convenience store, foodservice and in-store bakery channels nationwide. The company offers more than 125 products, including Big Cinnamon Rolls, Down Home Cookies, Donut Holes in a Cup and Ooey Gooey Butter Cakes.

Snack food and granola manufacturer McKee Foods, Collegedale, Tenn., acquired Prairie City Bakery in May.
